 Latest News         No comments

2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Roadster

We told you that this year\’s SEMA motorshow will be packed with Challengers -and apparently with Camaros also, but that\’s another story. Joining the two SEMA show 2009 Dodge Challenger Convertibles from Coach Builders Limited and Newport Convertible Engineering is a third topless version, from Group Five Limited. But unlike the two other proposals, Group Five\’s Challenger concept is a roadster or better yet, a speedster. And as such, it features a chopped windscreen and seats only for two with the rear passenger area being hidden by a tonneau cover.

The artists renderings reveal that the customized Dodge benefits from a front spoiler, a hood shaker, a redesigned rear bumper that houses new exhaust pipes as well as what appears to be, a set of restyled rear LED lights. For the time being, we\’re… Read the rest of this entry

 Latest News         No comments

2009 Dodge Challenger Convertibe NCE
Newport Convertible Engineering or NCE for short will be the second tuner to debut a drop-top conversion for the new Dodge Challenger Coupe at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. But unlike Coach Builders Limited that released a set of real life photos of their Challenger Convertible, NCE which has chopped anything from a Prius to a GMC Yukon, has preferred to tease us with a few \”photo-chopped\” pictures of a factory Challenger SRT8. Apparently, we\’ll have to wait for the SEMA Show opening on Tuesday, 4 November to see how NCE\’s version has turned out. Until then, either check out the rest of the faux Challenger Convertible pics or click here to read about Coach Builders\’ proposal.

 Latest News         No comments

2009 Daewoo Lacetti
Remember the Chevy Cruze that was launched at the Paris Show in early October? Well, a rebadged version of the compact sedan has just gone on sale in Korea under the Daewoo brand as the Lacetti. And yes, just like you, we are also completely dazzled by the fact that a product of an American company can go immediately for sale in a less significant market like Korea but it will take -for whatever reasons – another two or maybe even three years as some speculated recently, for the same vehicle to come to the States. Until then, American consumers can either go for the Cobalt or other proposals (mostly) from foreign automakers.

Maybe we\’re missing something here, but it doesn\’t quite make sense how a car that Chevy and GM needed two… Read the rest of this entry

British PM Tells Energy Giants to Cut Gas Prices After BP\’s Record £70m-a-day Profits

 Latest News         No comments

alt
Not that it comes to a surprise considering the fact that global oil prices hit a new peak at $147 a barrel in July but oil giant BP announced record profits for the third quarter of 2008 of £6.4 billion or about $10.5 billion – a whopping 148% above the same period last year. Of course these kind of profits are bound to cause a public outrage. The firm\’s provocative increase in profits for July to September forced British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to indirectly urge BP and other energy giants to pass on oil price falls to motorists and householders.

\”I notice that some companies have brought their prices down and I encourage others to do so to reflect the fact that the price of oil is now below 60 dollars when it used to be, for a… Read the rest of this entry

Report: GM-Chrysler Wedding May Cost 25,000 to 35,000 Jobs

 Latest News         No comments

alt
Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past few weeks, you\’ve probably heard about the ongoing merger talks between General Motors and Chrysler LLC. Today, a consulting firm from Michigan named Anderson Economic Group of East Lansing released an analysis concerning the various impacts of such a tie up. Not surprisingly, the report says that if GM goes ahead and acquires the Chrysler group, 25,000 to 35,000 people employed by the two automakers will lose their jobs.\”There is no scenario where GM and Chrysler avoid significant reductions in employment — none,\” CEO Patrick Anderson said.

The analysis concludes that 10 assembly plants, of which three, are likely to be in Michigan will be forced to close. Michigan will be hit hardest losing anywhere between 18,000 to 25,000 white-and-blue-collar jobs over a one- to two-year period after the… Read the rest of this entry
