TOKYO — Peugeot has partnered with Mitsubishi to bring a small electric car to the European market. Under a new agreement, the French automaker will sell a Peugeot-branded version of the Mitsubishi i MiEV throughout Europe.

Mitsubishi will be responsible for manufacturing the cars and will also sell its own version of the i MiEV in Europe. The companies plan to launch the electric car in Europe in late 2010 or early 2011. The first sales of the i MiEV will start this summer in Japan.

Mitsubishi says it is still studying additional markets for the i MiEV, including the U.S.
