If there was ever a more controversial model as a whole in Porsche's history than the Cayenne Diesel, please let us know. The German sports carmaker's (…) first ever diesel-engine model has arrived in UK showrooms with prices starting from ?39,404. That's about ?2,600 more than the entry-level Cayenne V6 that features a 290HP 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine. The Cayenne Diesel offers an Audi-derived 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine with 240HP matted to a six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
Porsche claims that the Cayenne Diesel has an average consumption of 30.4mpg UK on the combined cycle that converts to 9.3 lt/100km or 25.3mpg US with emissions of 244g/km CO2.
The Cayenne's range will be further enhanced in 2010 with the introduction of a gasoline-hybrid version that's expected to exceed 31 mpg UK.

There's something about Batmobiles that captures the imagination of handy-craft people like sculptor Bob Causey who built a drivable replica of the model seen in the 1995 film Batman Forever with Val Kilmer as the caped crusader. Like many other Batmobile replicas from various eras, this one too was built in a home garage and it comes with a full working interior and a rectractable hardtop that you can check out in action in the short video after the jump.

As a rule, new models usually enter the market priced higher than their predecessors, but blame the faulty economy and Subaru decided to charge less for its brand-new 2010 Legacy. More specifically, the entry-level 2.5i version is priced from $19,995 or $800 less than the equivalent MY09 Legacy 2.5i while the range-topping 3.6R starts from $24,995, a $1,600 reduction over the less powerful outgoing 3.0R. Note however that all prices don't include a $695 destination and delivery fee.
The base 2.5i Legacy that's powered by a 2.5-liter normally aspirated four-cylinder boxer with 170HP and mated with either a 6-speed manual transmission ($19,995) or the all-new Lineartronic CVT ($20,995) comes with electronic parking brake with Hill Holder system, auto on/off exterior lights, audio system with single-disc CD player, auxiliary input… Read the rest of this entry
Still trying to find what's so special about this special edition Ibiza other than the '25th Anniversary' logo on the rear hatch? We don't blame you, we did the same and came up with nothing. Apparently, VW Group's subsidiary hasn't any money laying around for fancy-pansy anniversary models so the special edition Ibiza that pays tribute to the model-series' 25th birthday is no more “special” than any other example of the latest generation Spanish supermini.
Of course to justify the “25th Anniversary” logo, SEAT has enhanced the Ibiza's standard equipment with climate control, dark glass, 17 inch alloy rims, parking position door mirrors, passenger airbag disconnection and USB port + Bluetooth. For all this, SEAT asks for an additional €384.27 if you choose the 85HP 1.4-liter gasoline engine and €400 when you combine the package with the 105HP 1.9-lityer TDI diesel. The “special edition” model is available in both three-door… Read the rest of this entry
Just when you though Volkswagen had run out of ideas for special edition models, the German firm goes and creates another one. The new special edition Eos also features numerous upgrades in the interior including aluminum sport pedals, heated front seats in leather / Alcantara and a new three-spoke leather steering wheel with gray decorative stitching. Furthermore, the coupe-convertible's standard equipment has been enhanced with the addition of a 'Climatronic' air conditioning, an upgraded audio system with a six-pack… Read the rest of this entry
Believe it or not, it's been about a month since we last posted anything about the new Camaro -we hope that you'll forgive us for not following the hype and posting about the speck of dust found on the brake pads on one of the show cars… While the new Camaro won't be heading towards Europe any time soon, in the Middle East were the money flows like petrol (you know what countries we mean), Chevy has launched an exclusive website where buyers can personally configure and pre-order the 2010 Camaro.

So much for BMW's attempts to keep the forthcoming X1 model under covers during testing. A member of the French 'Forum-Auto' website captured the Bavarian automaker's small SUV completely undisguised in what appears to be a commercial photo / video shoot somewhere in Europe. Not surprisingly, the production version is virtually identical to last year's so-called X1 Concept with only a few minor visible differences that include the retrimmed grille and aluminum rocker panels.
The new X1 SUV is scheduled to make its world premiere at this autumn's Frankfurt Motor Show in September with the first cars arriving at BMW's dealerships by the end of the year.
Powertrain options will include numerous four-cylinder and straight-six diesel and gasoline engines and while not confirmed, it is said that the X1 may be offered in both rear- and all-wheel drive versions. Read more about the production X1 in our previous post here… Read the rest of this entry
Having already meddled around with the sedan and liftback (five-door) versions of the Opel / Vauxhall Insignia, German tuning house Steinmetz is now completing its offerings with the introduction of a sports package for the Sports Tourer model that will premiere at this week's Tuning World Bodensee. Its appearance is upgraded thanks to the addition of a new honeycomb grille, front spoiler that complies with the European directives on pedestrian protection, new tail pipes and a two-piece roof spoiler.
The Sport Tourer's looks are complemented by a set of 20-inch alloy wheels available in white or black finish, shod in chunky 245/35 R20 rubber. There's also a lowering kit that brings the car approximately 25mm closer to the ground that further enhance the sporty look.
As far as the interior goes, Steinmetz offerings are limited to a set of foot mats and aluminum sport pedals.
More often than not, we think that the American automobile industry may have been in a much better state if only the people who are actually engaged in the creation of cars had a say in the decision making. This conceptual proposal for a Chevrolet Volt-based Saab coupe from Mayeul Walser, a 4th year Car Design student in Creapole-Esdi, is a good example. You may or may not like the design, but the idea of an aggressively styled hybrid Saab coupe is more than engaging.
According to Mayeul's description, the concept behind the Saab Fashionista's design was to create a luxurious four-seater coupe that blends the futuristic feel of sci-fi movies with the elegance of products from renowned fashion houses such as Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel.
The 24-year-old design student also claims that while based on the platform of the Volt, he designed the Fashionista to be equipped with a… Read the rest of this entry
